My multiverse theory.

I have made up a theory of my own to explain the origins of the universe via a “multiverse” connection thingy. In a nutshell there are many universes, each linked by black holes and “space pores” which are miniature white holes all over our universe that spurt out matter from other universes.

Since anything and everything could get pulled into a black hole i thought what if those black holes led to other universes? It would make sense because that’s why some universes are expanding and others contracting.

The matter that uses these wormholes might not emerge on the other side the same. They might be turned into some other form of matter/energy. like perhaps all the “matter” coming in from other universes might be being turned into “dark energy” filling up our universe causing it to expand.

and you might wonder “But where does it all come out??” to that I must say i have not thought of anything besides “space pores” to explain where it gets ejected out from.

Or maybe… just maybe… cats are these mysterious suppliers of mass and energy (see variable density of cats)

Freeing my HTC android phone

This is a story about a little journey of my HTC Incredible S, which is a pretty decent phone somewhat on par with say iPhone 4 (let’s not nitpick). Anyway I’ve been happy with it.

It developed a fault in the touch screen some months ago, so I took it back to the Optus shop I got it from and they sent it off to HTC for repairs. Took a few weeks but it came back neatly fixed and it even had a replacement screen protector. Good work.

Since the phone had to be empty for the repair, I was intending to “root” it afterwards so I could get rid of all the junk Optus puts on to it. I put up with it earlier, however it does it eat a lot of space in the main memory (some apps don’t like being on the SDcard) so I was running out of space.

I ended up putting CyanogenMod on it, rather than fussing about the standard Android and then having to remove the Optus stuff again. While the process of getting it rooted is convoluted and messy, the result is working very well and snappy. Good stuff! For those who don’t know, CyanogenMod is just plain Android with some tweaks and improvements (Android core is open source) – usually phone manufacturers add some stuff (often useful) and mobile network providers then add more again (usually junk).

The fact that HTC had decided to upgrade some aspects of the phone’s firmware was actually a help in the process, as all HTC phones with firmware after a certain date can be unlocked. Before that date it would depend on the mobile network provider as to whether they reckon it’s ok for us mere mortals to decide what to apps to have on our phone. So, thank you HTC! Good stuff. The wrongness of church in QLD schools

The separation of church and state schools is an issue which transcends religious beliefs and political allegiances. It should concern Christians, members of minority faiths and those with no religious belief.

The Most Insane Lego Machine I

Nineteenth-century company promoter James Whitaker Wright is probably best known as a financial swindler whose corporate house of cards led to a panic in the London stock exchange at the turn of the twentieth century.

But one of Wright’s legacies is architectural, rather than financial. In 1890, he purchased and began developing the Lea Park estate (later named Witley Park), building, among other things, an underwater billiard room.
